CAA 2008 Auction Market of the Year Award goes to Saskatoon
Saskatoon Livestock Sales Ltd. has been chosen as the Canadian Angus Association’s 2008 Auction Market of the Year. Brian Good, Commercial Fieldman for the Canadian Angus Association, presented the award at the Livestock Markets Association of Canada annual convention on May 29, 2009. Saskatoon Livestock Sales Ltd. is the largest volume market in Saskatchewan. Michael Fleury, Harvey Welter and Bob Blacklock are the main people involved in the day-to-day operations. Saskatoon Livestock Sales Ltd. won the award for consistently offering large numbers of Angus influence cattle, significant numbers of which are Angus tagged. Brian Good says the market staff are excellent, identifying the program and consignors throughout the day. “I am pleased to recognize Saskatoon Livestock Sales with this award,” says Good. “Mike, Harvey and Bob are very dedicated and work hard to bring Angus cattle to the forefront of their sales throughout the year. For them, it’s not a one-day deal; it’s a year-round deal. These guys and their wives make it happen. We appreciate their efforts and this award acknowledges that.” The Canadian Angus Association created the Auction Market of the Year Award to recognize and honour those auction markets that work hard to promote Angus cattle. In 2006, the first award was presented to Mankota Stockmen's Weigh Co. at Mankota, Saskatchewan. The 2007 award was presented to B.C. Livestock Producers Co-op Williams Lake at Williams Lake, BC. - Canadian Angus Association
